How can osteopathy help with neck and shoulder pain?

After getting the patient out of immediate pain, the next thing osteopaths want to do is to find out why the injury happened and how we can work together make it less likely to happen again. Unless there is been a direct injury (as with whiplash after a road traffic accident), often the cause of the neck or shoulder pain can be more to do with posture and what the patient has been doing at work or with their training. Taking the time for a more global approach to assess and change what’s happening with the rest of the body often leads to getting the patient out of pain quicker and with more long-lasting results.
